Sorting the Steel

Louis Mills breaks the steel from the smelt into pieces discarding the clinker and waste. The good pieces are then spark tested on a rock grinder for carbon content.

Once the pieces are sorted, they will be stacked into a billet for forge welding. The forge welding process will refine the steel and by repeated folding and welding a fine grain, high quality steel will be made. Forged into a sword, you have a truly handmade blade with all the character and unique qualities of  those that were created by our ancient brothers.
