Cold Work

The cold work phase comes after the forging. The value of forging to shape becomes apparent immediately as all of the hammer blows appear like craters on the moon. The sens that were made in this class worked really well. We changed the edge geometry from years past and this year made the shape more like a planer blade. In the picture above, Chuck is using a plane blade to scrape his sword.

The sen is used for rapid stock removal and as preparation for the files. In the photo above, Allen has done a fine job of filing his blade to shape.
