The Computer Interface

That you are here means that you have decided to enter this new technology or at least sample what it has to offer. Many have observed the mania and surrounding internet hype and decided to pass on it. When I tried to get Jim Batson to get online his response was, "What do I give up?" He is a wise old man because once you do commit to it, you are going to have to give something up. There is only so much time. My decision was easy, I have been champing at the bit for the technology to come up to my dreams and I have been more than willing to give up TV for the opportunity to communicate on this scale. I bought my first PC fifteen years ago and had access to the college computer fifteen years before that.

I am a computer user. I don't write programs, design hardware or manage networks, but from my first experience, the power of the computer as a tool has captured my interest. I am an advocate for the web, but also am keeping a careful eye on how it develops. As with all things there are positive and negative aspects. We are seeing billions if not trillions of dollars being pumped into the internet and at times it looks like capitalism gone mad. What is being created with all this investment however is a new model for the human experience and no one knows where it will lead or how it will impact the future.

To enter this environment is an overwhelming experience. There is so much to learn, so many pitfalls to avoid, so much temptation to overcome, that most experience incredible frustration and anger during the initial exposure.  Because of my web site, I am often asked computer questions. This page is in response to what I see as a need. It will evolve like my web site and I intend to add pages as I have time. Don't email me with computer questions, I just don't have enough time to respond to everyone, nor am I qualified. Follow the links, work at your own pace, and learn on your own. I am going to place banner ads in this section because they are appropriate and to help defray the cost of this site, click through if you see something interesting and you will help to maintain this site. Thanks.
