Everyone confronts that moment when ones dream begins to become reality. In the sword class that point comes quickly. What we know is about to change and that forces us into an uncomfortable situation. We reach our limits and our goal lies just beyond our grasp. Learning can only take place when we let go.
Walking from station to station, I see the struggle going on. I have demonstrated the technique for forging the blade, but that lesson is always repeated after everyone has worked at it a bit. We can't see what is being taught without the reference point of experience. The second time we see the lesson, it has new meaning.
